The AI Act: Teamwork is the key to its implementation

The EU has created a legislative framework for the use of AI with the AI Act. This regulation is now gradually entering into force – and it has consequences for companies that develop or use AI applications. Marketers should be aware that the new regulation also governs the use of generative AI, such as ChatGPT and similar tools. That’s why you should take a look now to see how the EU’s AI regulation will affect your work. For some initial pointers, you can turn to the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW). The association has been examining the act’s practical implementation and will continue to do so.

“As the BVDW, we’ve been closely involved in the AI Act and its implementation and development. We provide a platform that allows experts to exchange ideas and share best practices. With the launch of our AI Officer Certificate, we’re also supporting companies with the continuing education of their employees.”

Katharina Jäger, Head of Innovation & Technology at the BVDW

Beyond the legislation’s entry into force, AI continues to be the focus of attention for the major players in the digital economy. The DMEXCO podcast with Google’s Brendon Kraham takes a look at the impact of the technology on the future of online search as well as discussing the AI Act.

The AI Act timeline: The deadlines are approaching

After several years of planning the EU’s AI regulation, the new law entered into force in 2024. Since then, various transition periods have applied to the AI Act. But the clock starts ticking down in 2025: Some deadlines will kick in, and companies will need to put the right processes in place to ensure AI compliance. In our whitepaper “The AI Act timeline: your to-dos for 2025,” we list the key deadlines in the EU AI Act and set out the to-dos that your company needs to tackle as soon as possible.
