Working together to boost the digital economy: the Rhine metropolis will simultaneously host Europe’s leading digital marketing & tech event, DMEXCO, and Europe’s leading digitalization initiative, Digital X – both united by a mindset focused on driving digitalization in Europe. That’s also the reason why Koelnmesse, Deutsche Telekom, and the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW), which is DMEXCO’s ideational and professional partner, are pooling their strengths again this year to build on last year’s successful premiere.
Together, they will form a networked platform – both on the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds and in Cologne city center – for fostering innovations, creating business opportunities, and encouraging knowledge sharing. The joint ticket arrangement will give all digital enthusiasts the opportunity to visit both events. The goal is to further advance and promote digitalization and foster greater acceptance among all stakeholders – spanning end consumers, businesses, and political representatives.
Premiere of the Digital X Summit in Koelnmesse’s new Confex
This year, the exclusive Digital X Summit will be held for the first time on September 17, ahead of the two main events. This will bring together key players from business, politics, and society in the newly opened Confex conference and exhibition center located on the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds. The new building, which sets new sustainability benchmarks and incorporates cutting-edge technology, provides new opportunities for innovative event formats in the region. The centerpiece of the 20,500 m2 building is its Confex Hall, which can be divided into three sections and offers space for up to 4,300 people.
“The collaboration between DMEXCO and Digital X underscores our joint vision to drive innovation and transformation, thus strengthening our status as Europe’s digital hotspot. Cologne embraces the future and offers a top-class, central location and excellent infrastructure to showcase it, in particular thanks to our new Confex,” says Gerald Böse, President and CEO of Koelnmesse.
Klaus Werner, Director Business Customers Telekom Deutschland GmbH: “Last year’s huge response showed that we struck a chord. Talking about future visions is good, but we now need to actually implement them. We want to encourage people to tackle the future together.”
Dirk Freytag, President of the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW), adds: “Following on from 2023, DMEXCO and Digital X will once again provide valuable digital inspiration from a range of perspectives this year. As a digital association, we place great importance on shaping the future together and creating relevant touchpoints. Cologne, DMEXCO, and this collaboration are proof of that.”
